Bank Holidays 2026 (US)
US banks follow the Federal Reserve holiday schedule — the same 11 federal holidays observed by government offices and USPS. Branches close on these days; online banking and ATMs keep working, but transfers and deposits generally post the next business day. Banks are OPEN on Good Friday, Black Friday and Christmas Eve (some branches close early).

The Saturday exception in 2026
Independence Day (4th of July) falls on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The Federal Reserve does not shift holidays that fall on a Saturday, so many bank branches stay open the preceding Friday even though federal offices, USPS and the stock market close that day. Check your bank.
Good to know
- Some banks keep branches open on Columbus Day and Veterans Day — the two "light" federal holidays.
- The stock market is OPEN on Columbus Day and Veterans Day even though banks close.
- Good Friday is not a bank holiday — branches run normal hours.
- Most branches close early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
